A bad season for the ailing Texans

After the Houston Texans eked out a 2-0 start, it was all disaster for the once amazing and promising football team. It suffered its worst franchise record of 14 straight losses and ended up fourth in the AFC South in a season-ending 2-14 win-loss card.

So frustrating was how the team performed that in week 14 and with a loss to the cellar dweller Jacksonville Jaguars, Texans team owner Bob Mcnair handed Head coach Gary Kubiak his pink slip. Mcnair named Defensive coach Wade Philipps as interim coach and later hired former Penn State head coach Bill O' Brien as the team's third head coach.

In the season opener, the Texans won against the San Diego Chargers, 31-28 in a come-from-behind fashion. Down 3 touchdowns (21-points) in the third quarter, the Texans sparked a 24-0 run in the closing minutes of the third quarter and the rest of the fourth quarter to finally win one against the Chargers.

In week two, the Texans notched another victory over the Tennessee Titans, in another come from behind win and took it, 30-24 in overtime.

Week three started the jinks for the Texans as the team bowed down to its perennial nemesis, the defending champions Baltimore Ravens, 30-9. The Texans started slow and went scoreless in the third and fourth quarter.

The losses came one after another as Matt Schaub made poor quarterbacking plays throwing bad passes and interceptions and got sacked too often by every team the squad faced thereafter.

After leading 20-3 in the first half, the Texans lost to the Seattle Seahawks, 20-23 in overtime. Texans fans started to call for the relief of error-prone Schaub as a starting quarterback.

The San Francisco 49ers routed the Texans in week five, 34-3. The Texans went cold and scoreless in the first, second and fourth quarters. It's only goal was scored in the third quarter. For touchdowns, the Texans struggled and seemed to have forgotten how to set it up and make one.

Matt Schaub got injured in the game against the Saint Louis Rams in week six and the Texans suffered its fourth straight loss, 38-13. Kubiak was forced to field reserve quarterback TJ Yates in the second half but this did not help the Texans as also Yates committed intercepted passes and errors.

Kubiak tapped the services of reserve quarterback Case Keenum in place of the injured Schaub in week seven against the Kansas City Chiefs. Keenum showed flashes of agility and brilliant plays but also went short, 16-17. In his first start, Keenum threw 271 yards and scored a touchdown pass to Deandre Hopkins.

The Texans were leading 21-3 against the Indianapois Colts in week nine but pressure to end Houston's fifth straight loss hit a toll on coach Kubiak who suffered a mild stroke as the team headed to the dug-out at halftime. Kubiak was rushed to the hospital and Keenum's quarterbacking and Andre Johnson's good game lost its momentum and went scoreless in the fourth quarter. Colts won 27-24 with 3 touchdowns in the second half.

In the game against the Oakland Raiders in week 11, the Texans led 17-14 at the end of the second half. Texans defenses again crumbled in the third quarter and allowed the Raiders to score two touchdowns, never looked backed and went on to edge the Texans, 28-23.

When the Texans faced the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars, they again failed to score a single touchdown and lost the game 13-6.

Houston played well against top caliber team New England Patriots and led 24-21 at the end of the third quarter only to be outplayed by Tom Brady in the last quarter as the Patriots won 34-31. Coach Kubiak returned to the coaching chore but this did not helped the Texans not to fade in crucial end game plays.

The Jaguars again outplayed the Texans on week 14 and scored its second win, 27-20. The Colts also got its second win over the Texans with a one-sided 25-3 victory.

The Denver Broncos thrashed the Texans, 37-13 on week 14. The Texans was close 13-16 at the end of the third quarter but Broncos' quarterback Peyton Manning made 3 superb touchdown passes in the final quarter for the lopsided win.

In the Texans final game for the season in week 17, the Tennessee Titans upended its week 2 loss against Houston with a 16-10 win.
The only consolation the Texans got in losing 12 straight is that it will be getting the top pick in the 2014 NFL draft.

Donald Sterling remains a total scumbag, and the NBA needs to deal with it

Donald Sterling is a total scumbag. He has a history of particularly grotesque and federally prosecuted racism and a list of sexual harassment accusers. He's a grandstanding idiot without a modicum of self-awareness. He's the type of dumbass who would hold a Black History Month celebration in March, and the type of racist moron who would "celebrate Black History" by giving 1,000 game tickets to poor kids, because the brainless hockey puck equates Black people with poor people, because he is a complete cretin. NBA playoffs in progress, can the Heat threepeat?

The NBA first round of the playoffs for the 2013-2014 season is ongoing and the match ups are quite tight in both the Eastern and Western Conference turfs except for the Miami Heat which swept the Charlotte Bobcats 4-0.

The second seed in the East, Heat can at least rest and reenergize for a week while waiting for its second round opponent which is either the third seed Toronto Raptors or the sixth seed Brooklyn Nets which are now tied 2-2 in their first round series. Can Manny Pacquiao bounce back from that devastating knock out loss to Marquez?

Marquez delivers the KO punch of the decade......

Saturday night was not as cold as it seems when Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao was devastatingly knocked out cold by Juan Manuel Marquez with a perfectly executed crisp right straight at exactly 2:59th minute of the sixth round.

Pacquiao started chasing Marquez and landed good shots in rounds one and two until Marquez suddenly surprised Pacman in the third round with an overhand right power shot that knocked down the pound-for-pound king for the first time in the bout and in the previous 36 rounds that they had squared off so far.
