Argentina goalie Sergio Romero saved two penalties Wednesday to send Argentina into the World Cup final with a 4-2 shootout win over the Netherlands after tough defending and a lack of creative spark from either team consigned the match to a 0-0 stalemate. Brazil down Colombia but Neymar's Cup is over

Brazil's David Luis scores

FORTALEZA Brazil (Reuters) - A stunning free kick from Brazil's David Luiz sealed a 2-1 win over Colombia in a bruising World Cup quarter-final on Friday but the hosts will next face Germany without their talisman Neymar.

Brazil's victory came at a heavy price as their leading scorer was carried off in agony with a fractured vertebra late in the game and he will not play again in this World Cup.

"It's not serious in the sense that it doesn't need surgery, but he'll need to immobilize it to recover, Brazilian team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar told a local television channel. Read more about Brazil down Colombia but Neymar's Cup is over

Saved by the woodwork, Brazil lives another day

Brazil vs Chile FIFA 2014

BELO HORIZONTE, Brazil (AP) -- Tight and tense as it was, it was enough to keep Brazil's national obsession of winning the World Cup on home soil from taking a desperately disappointing turn.

And it wasn't Neymar, the country's poster boy for this year's World Cup, that played the key role this time. It was goalkeeper Julio Cesar, the country's scapegoat from the last World Cup, who made several crucial saves and even got some help from the woodwork in a 3-2 penalty shootout win over Chile. Donald Sterling remains a total scumbag, and the NBA needs to deal with it

Donald Sterling is a total scumbag. He has a history of particularly grotesque and federally prosecuted racism and a list of sexual harassment accusers. He's a grandstanding idiot without a modicum of self-awareness. He's the type of dumbass who would hold a Black History Month celebration in March, and the type of racist moron who would "celebrate Black History" by giving 1,000 game tickets to poor kids, because the brainless hockey puck equates Black people with poor people, because he is a complete cretin. A bad season for the ailing Texans

After the Houston Texans eked out a 2-0 start, it was all disaster for the once amazing and promising football team. It suffered its worst franchise record of 14 straight losses and ended up fourth in the AFC South in a season-ending 2-14 win-loss card.

So frustrating was how the team performed that in week 14 and with a loss to the cellar dweller Jacksonville Jaguars, Texans team owner Bob Mcnair handed Head coach Gary Kubiak his pink slip. Mcnair named Defensive coach Wade Philipps as interim coach and later hired former Penn State head coach Bill O' Brien as the team's third head coach.

In the season opener, the Texans won against the San Diego Chargers, 31-28 in a come-from-behind fashion. Down 3 touchdowns (21-points) in the third quarter, the Texans sparked a 24-0 run in the closing minutes of the third quarter and the rest of the fourth quarter to finally win one against the Chargers.
